The twenty-fifth meeting of the United Nations Climate Summit, known as the Conference of the Parties or COP25, will be held in Madrid, Spain, from December 2 to 13, 2019. It is the most important global meeting for negotiating climate policy actions.

COP25 represents represents a great opportunity for countries to present new and better targets for reducing the emissions responsible for global warming. The Summit will seek to establish criteria for compliance with the Paris Agreement, in force since 2016, which establishes as an objective to keep the increase in the planet's temperature well below 2ºC (with respect to pre-industrial levels) and to continue efforts to limit it to 1.5ºC.

Within the framework of the meeting, AIDA is promoting the urgent increase of ambition in the commitments of Latin American nations to face the climate crisis. These contributions should aim at a just energy transition, as well as solutions respectful of human rights and based on nature, including the restoration, protection and conservation of key ecosystems for mitigation and adaptation to the climate crisis.
