Carlos Lozano Acosta

Attorney, Territories Program

Carlos Lozano Acosta is Colombian and an attorney for AIDA’s Territories Program, working from Costa Rica. He is a graduate of the National University of Colombia and holds an LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the University of Oregon, United States, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar. Carlos is a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and was a researcher with the “Policy and Legislation on Biodiversity, Traditional Knowledge, and Access to Genetic Resources” group at the Institute of Genetics of the National University of Colombia. He has also served as an advisor to Colombia’s Ministries of Environment and Agriculture. His areas of expertise include environmental permitting, climate finance, agrobiodiversity, land use regulation, biocultural uses of wildlife, invasive species, genetic resources, and hazardous waste.
